Hello!
My Name is Will Trogdon and I'm a multifaceted Senior Designer exclusively in the sports industry who is obsessively passionate about creating digital experiences that people use, love, and remember.
Born and raised in Capitol Hill Seattle, I grew up competing in sports but also pursued a passion for art and design. I was the first and last kid on the soccer field for practice just as I was the first and last kid in the art room during free period. Fast forward many years later, it's fitting that I can say I've made the following accomplishments at the collision point for Design + Sports + Tech:
- As the first-ever in-house UX/UI Designer, designed and built the first-ever fan-facing mobile app for a professional sports organization (Seattle Kraken Hockey) and an accompanying major events venue (Climate Pledge Arena). The app has gone on to be featured in Geek Wire amongst other publications, and earn awards - most notably from the Sports Business Journal - and services 200K+ registered users, with over 20 million user sessions.
- Collaborated with external agencies and internal analytics to design and construct the first-ever US Soccer Web & Mobile App providing unique fan-engaging/ user-centered experiences.
- Contributed to designing the most-ever-sold Nike Soccer Jersey (US Women's World Cup Soccer Jersey) along with a FIFA World Cup brand campaign to be viewed by tens of millions.
Following the Women's World Cup in 2019, I wanted to take on a new challenge: continue creating stunning graphics and brand campaigns, but go further and develop a full-rounded experience past just viewing graphics. This led me to the UX/UI design path, where my goal was to fully control the interactive experience fans/users/customers would have with graphics and branding.
I achieved my goal when I was brought aboard the Seattle Kraken as the first-ever internal UX/UI Designer for a professional sports team, and designed the Seattle Kraken + Climate Pledge Arena App. Pushing my visual design skills and graphical boundaries, I simultaneously created the most intuitive app experience for Seattle Kraken fans and concert attendees to manage their tickets, travel to games/events, learn about their new team, and much more.
Outside of Design + Tech + Sports
I am a freelance photographer and enjoy shooting concerts, portraits, sporting events, and unique perspectives around the city.
Golf, any boat-related activity, hiking, paddle boarding, surfing, fishing, running -- any activity outside, I truly enjoy! Recently, I started a kickball team and have also picked up birding.
Lastly, I'm extremely passionate about discovering new music and places that serve the best old-fashioned's. Happy to receive and give recommendations for both!
